Aamir Khan revealed that he was disappointed after Lagaan didn’t win an Oscar in 2002. Lagaan was released in 2001.

20 years ago, the Aamir Khan-starrer Lagaan released on the big screen on June 15, 2001. The film, which was set in the pre-independence era, revolved around the members of a small village who were burdened not only by years of drought but also by high taxes.

Lagaan was also nominated for an Oscar in 2002 for Best Foreign Language Film, but unfortunately did not win it. The lead actor, Aamir Khan recently revealed how he felt when Lagaan didn’t win it at the Oscars.

Don’t go on a single schedule, you won’t have time to correct your mistakes. Don’t make sync sound, because nobody has done it for the longest time Haven’t done it till now. This will delay your shooting. Take the dubbed dialogues later, be smart.'”
