Darren Sammy stated that a racist slur was used against him and Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera if they played with SunRisers Hyderabad at the IPL.
Former West Indies skipper Darren Sammy lost his cool on Saturday because he learnt the significance of a jibe that was directed at him throughout his Indian Premier League (IPL) stint with SunRisers Hyderabad. The former Windies T20 World Cup-winning skipper stated that he and Sri Lanka participant Thisara Perera were exposed to chants of their slur if they played with SunRisers Hyderabad. Sammy further said he believed the term meant black guy, but today he’s angry as he’s realised the significance of earth.

Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy wasn’t happy about the real significance of this word.

The former Windies skipper has been a vocal supporter of the protests which are presently happening in the USA over the passing of an African American man named George Floyd.

“@ICC and the other planks are you men not seeing what is happening to ppl like me? Are you gonna talk against the injustice against my type? This is not about America. This occurs every day #BlackLivesMatter now is not the time to be quiet. ,” Sammy tweeted.
Opening batsman Chris Gayle had condoled the death of Floyd and had stated that he also has been a victim of racism. The Gayle reported that it is a fantasy that racism does not exist in cricket.

The officer, who pushed his knee Floyd’s throat, has been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
