Disney + Hotstar has made all preparations to compete with Netflix with some new plans. While the company announced 18 new Hotstar Specials series and Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex movies during a virtual event on Tuesday, the Disney-owned streaming service has also announced that it is discontinuing its two-tier content-based strategy. In addition, all content on Disney+ Hotstar, including Hollywood movies and TV shows from Disney+ Originals, Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, HBO, FX, Showtime, 20th Century and Searchlight Pictures, previously only Disney+ Hotstar Premium, which is now available to all.

From September 1, Disney+ Hotstar will allow its subscribers to choose from three new plans, which include the Rs 499 annual plan “Mobile”, the Rs 899 annual plan “Super” and the Rs 1,499 annual plan “Premium”. The starting price is higher than the VIP’s price of Rs 399, but the premium price has not changed. If you’re already a Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscriber, not much has changed for you, except that you can now stream on up to four devices simultaneously, which was earlier limited to just two devices. Plus, 4K is still available at a premium. Disney+ Hotstar Super gives you high-definition (HD) video quality on two devices at the same time.

Disney+ Hotstar Mobile is similar to Netflix’s mobile plan. This limits you to mobile devices only, but you can enjoy HD video quality on it. At the same time, customers who have Disney+ Hotstar Super and Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscriptions can use this service on all supported platform websites, mobiles and living room devices. In the new Disney+ Hotstar, customers will get access to international content with Mobile (Rs 499) and Super (Rs 899) Premium (Rs 1,499).

Disney + Hotstar’s three new plans of Rs 499 mobile, Rs 899 super and Rs 1,499 premium plan will be implemented from September 1.
