Earthquake in Chennai: Earthquake tremors were felt in parts of Chennai on Tuesday, soon after an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck the Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast.

The News Minute reported that the tremors were felt in Thiruvanmiyur, Alwarpet and areas close to the sea. According to reports, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km.
The News Minute reported, “The tremors were felt in Andhra about 296 km south-southeast of Kakinada, 312 km south-southeast of Rajahmundry, 339 km south-east of Guntur and 386 km east-northeast of Tirupati. In Tamil Nadu, it was felt 320 kms. East-North-East of Chennai.”
The IMD said the epicenter of the quake was near Kakinada.
