The Pune-based Corona vaccine manufacturing company Serum Institute of India took a fire on Thursday. However, corona’s vaccine is safe from accident.

The incident at the Serum Institute, which gives vaccines around the world, is a cause of concern for many countries in the world.


A fire took off on Thursday at the blossom plant of serum Institute of India, a vaccine-making company in Pune, Maharashtra. Five construction workers lost their lives in the accident.

The total damage caused to the Institute in the fire is not yet known. Also, the cause of the fire is still unclear.

No damage to corona vaccine has been caused in the accident. In fact, the fire institute is under construction and is engaged in a new plant. From there, the corona vaccine making plant is far away.

According to the information, the incident occurred at the Blossom plant of serum Institute of India, which is located at Gate No. 1 of the Institute.

The plant in which the corona vaccine is being created is present at Gate No. 3, 4 and 5.

Corona vaccine is manufactured and stored in the plant located here. It was reported that the three gates are in a very opposite direction from the accident place. Efforts are being made to control the fire.

The institute officials said that the corona vaccine is completely safe in the accident but the BCG vaccine, which works in TB disease, has been damaged.

Officials said, though there was not much stock of BCG in the blossom plant, it has not caused much damage.

Serum Institute of India World’s largest vaccine manufacturing company

Serum Institute is the world’s largest vaccine manufacturing company. Most of the doses of vaccine that are formed here are sold all over the world.

According to the information, more than 1.5 billion vaccine doses go to the world’s serum institute. These include vaccines for diseases like polio, R-hepatitis B, tetanus, diphtheria, TB etc.

Serum Institute of India was Founded in 1966

The Serum Institute of India was established in the year 1966 by Cyrus PoonaWalla. At present, the Institute is India’s number one bio-technology company.

About 65 per cent of the world’s children are reported to have been vaccinated at least one vaccine made at the Serum Institute.

The vaccine of the Serum Institute is used in national immunization programs in many countries of the world.

Serum Institute of India Manufacture of corona vaccine

Two vaccine of corona virus has been approved in India. One is the Covaccine of India Biotech and the second Serum Institute, which is the Indian version of the Oxford-astrazeneca vaccine.

Both the vaccine has delivered the vaccine for the first phase of vaccination. Vaccination has also started in many parts of the country. The process of vaccination is continuing.

According to the CEO of serum Institute, Adar Poonawalla, the first 10 crore dose of covishield has been given to the Government of India at Rs. 200 per dose.

In the market, it is available at Rs. 1000 per dose. Poonawalla has claimed that his company is preparing five to six crore vaccine doses every month.
