Gandhiji’s Gold Plated Glasses Auction In London, Know Price

‘Mahatma Gandhi’s Personal Glasses’ is a part of the military, history and series of classic cars of auctioneers, which will be sold at an online auction on August 21.

Mahatma Gandhi’s gold plated glasses of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi have been put up for online auction in England. He wore these glasses when he lived in South Africa. This is related to the memory of his early days at that time. Gandhiji went to South Africa for the first time in 1893. In the meantime, he wore these glasses. In England, it is estimated to cost 10,000 to 15,000 pounds.

“We were surprised that the pair of glasses that were put in an envelope in their letter box could have such a great history,” according to the East Bristol Auction House in Hanham, south west England. It is estimated that it belongs to Mahatma Gandhi, who is known by the whole world as a symbol of anti-colonial nationalism, political morality and non-violent resistance.’

Auctioneer Andy Stove said it was a discovery of historical significance. The seller told me that it could be interesting, and he also said that if it has no significance, you can destroy it. But when we told him the price was estimated, he almost fell out of the chair.”

The glasses have already been priced at £6,000 in online auctions, and the unidentified elderly salesman from England who had these glasses told him that his uncle had gifted the glasses when he was working for British Petroleum in South Africa between 1910 and 1930. Gandhiji left South Africa in 1914.

According to Stove, the seller’s father told him the story 50 years ago. According to him, we have mixed dates and got all that, even gandhiji’s first-ever date of wearing glasses. He could be one of his early spectacles. According to Stove, “they were in white envelopes, they could have been easily stolen, fell out or destroyed in the bin. This is probably the biggest discovery we have made as a company’.
