On the International Day to promote the elimination of nuclear weapons at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) meeting, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan said that India agrees on the disarmament of nuclear weapons.
It may be recalled that in view of the us dropping nuclear bombs on Japan in the Second World War and the situation that arose thereafter, the demand for disarmament of nuclear weapons worldwide picked up.
Initiatives have been taken on behalf of the United Nations for disarmament of arms.
India reiterates its long-term and unwavering commitment to a pioneering, universal and non-discriminatory nuclear disarmament for the complete elimination of nuclear weapons, said Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan.
India attaches high priority to the Conference on Disarmament as the world’s single multilateral disarmament forum and supports the launch of talks on a comprehensive nuclear weapons conference, said The Horn.
