ISIS mobilized to consolidate roots in Bangladesh, new wing created, could make big attack

Terror outfit ISIS is engaged in strengthening its roots in Bangladesh. According to Bangladesh’s intelligence agencies, the Bangladesh wing of ISIS may announce its new wing before Eid-ul-Azha (Eid-ul-Azha), which will be named ‘Bengal Ulyat’.

The police headquarters has received intelligence inputs that this new wing of ISIS may target police establishments, government establishments and foreign missions or embassies in the country before Eid-ul-Zuha on August 1, 2020. In view of this, several units like Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC), Anti-Terrorism Unit and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been put on high alert.

Conspiracy to do something big

“We have received inputs that ISIS is planning to carry out any major terrorist activities while announcing its new wing,” a senior intelligence unit official said. In view of this, we have alerted all our units, including our special units, and are taking all precautionary measures.

Silent Telegram Channels

However, Bengali ISIS-linked Telegram channels such as Al Mursalat (Al Mursalat) and Et Tamkin, which provide information on wing-linked messages and announcements, have remained dormant since March this year. No posts have been seen from them for the last four months.
