TRAI says that the month of February has been good for all the telecom companies, because in that month all the three companies have gathered a lot of new subscribers. Data from the telecom regulator shows that by the month of February, Airtel had a total of 348.3 million i.e. 34.88 million users. At the same time, if Vi’s subscribers are added for the month of February, now the company has a total of 28.26 million subscribers.
According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Jio had added 1.9 million new subscribers in January and Airtel added 5.8 million subscribers in the same month as compared to February. January was definitely a good month for Airtel. However, all the companies combined have seen a growth of 0.72 percent in the number of total wireless subscribers. As of February, the total wireless subscribers in the country stood at 1,167.71 million or 1.16 billion. In urban areas, this number increased to 639.24 million by the end of February 2021 (633.27 million in January). At the same time, in rural areas, it increased from 526.15 million in January to 528.47 million in February.
