Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom company in terms of subscribers, has once again become number 1 in terms of adding new subscribers. The company has surpassed Airtel and Vi by a huge margin in adding new subscribers. TRAI’s February report shows that Jio has added 42 lakh new subscribers in the month of February. On the other hand, Airtel added 37 lakh subscribers in the same month. Till the same month, 414.9 million i.e. about 41.90 million users of the country had been connected with Jio.

With so many subscribers that month, Jio beat both Airtel and Vi. Airtel added 37 lakh new subscribers in the month of February. On the other hand, Vodafone Idea, which is now Vi, added 6.5 lakh new users. Let us tell you that this figure may not be disappointing for Vi, because this figure is the highest for the company in the last several months.

TRAI says that the month of February has been good for all the telecom companies, because in that month all the three companies have gathered a lot of new subscribers. Data from the telecom regulator shows that by the month of February, Airtel had a total of 348.3 million i.e. 34.88 million users. At the same time, if Vi’s subscribers are added for the month of February, now the company has a total of 28.26 million subscribers.

According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Jio had added 1.9 million new subscribers in January and Airtel added 5.8 million subscribers in the same month as compared to February. January was definitely a good month for Airtel. However, all the companies combined have seen a growth of 0.72 percent in the number of total wireless subscribers. As of February, the total wireless subscribers in the country stood at 1,167.71 million or 1.16 billion. In urban areas, this number increased to 639.24 million by the end of February 2021 (633.27 million in January). At the same time, in rural areas, it increased from 526.15 million in January to 528.47 million in February.
