Naushad chef, a well-known chef and Malayalam film producer, passed away on Friday morning in a private hospital in Thiruvalla, Kerala. He was 66.
Following undergone surgery, he was brought to the hospital two weeks ago in severe condition.
His health deteriorated, and he has been on ventilator support for the past three days to maintain his breathing.
Naushad’s wife, who had suffered a heart attack a week before, had passed away.
Naushad, also known as ‘big chef,’ is the owner of a chain of restaurants known as Naushad Big Chef (NBC) as well as a catering company in India.
Among the films he produced were Kaazhcha, Chattambinad, Best Actor, Lion, Payyans, and Spanish masala, all of which were released in Malayalam.
His food show on a television channel had also garnered a large following, which was a testament to his versatility.
Naushad is credited for popularising biryani in Kerala’s central region.
He had an early interest in cooking and went on to complete a hotel management course in Bengaluru, after which he took over his father’s catering business in Thiruvalla, Tamil Nadu.
