OTP will now be automatically deleted in Google Messages, two very useful features found

Google Messages, the company’s native Android SMS, MMS and RCS messaging app, has now received two new essential features in India. The first feature is to automatically sort messages into different categories and the second feature is to auto-delete the one-time password (OTP) of the user. The sorting feature will use machine learning technology to automatically sort the user’s messages into categories including personal, transactional, OTP, among others, which will help the user to find those messages easily. Apart from this, due to the second feature, if the user wants, his OTP will also be automatically deleted after 24 hours.

One blog post In 2015, Google announced the rollout of these two new features for Google Messages users in India. The rollout will begin in India in the coming weeks on Android phones running Android 8 and above. Both OTP auto deleting feature and category feature are optional and can be turned on or off in the settings. To see the change, users have to tap Google Messages on its Update on latest version Will have to do If the categories feature is turned on, SMS messages on the Google Messages app will be sorted into different categories based on their usage. For example, a separate tab will be created for messages containing bank transactions and bill transactions, while messages with conversations on saved numbers will be placed in the personal tab. Google says the categorization happens securely on users’ devices, so conversations stay in the app and can be accessed offline as well.

As for the OTP feature, Google is also offering an option to automatically delete the OTP 24 hours after it is received. With this, users will not have to waste time in deleting the many OTPs they get daily. This will help users to keep their Messages app clean and tidy. Last year, Google also released a feature to automatically transfer suspicious spam messages to the Spam folder.
