On Wednesday morning, income tax officials raided the premises belonging to Paul Dinakaran in Chennai, Coimbatore and various places in Tamil Nadu.

CHENNAI: The Income Tax department conducted raids on 28 places connected to controversial Christian evangelist Paul Dinakaran and his Christian missionary organization ‘Jesus Calls’ in Chennai, Coimbatore and elsewhere.

Income Tax officials on Wednesday conducted raids on 28 premises connected to Paul Dinakaran, including the ‘Jesus Caller’ organization run by Dinakaran, a Christian preacher across Tamil Nadu, according to reports.

Sources said the raids were also conducted at the Karunya Institute of Technology and Science.

On Wednesday morning, income tax officials raided the premises belonging to Paul Dinakaran in Chennai, Coimbatore and various places in Tamil Nadu.

The income tax department also raided the Karunya Christian school run by his Christian organisation.

More than 200 income tax department officials conducted raids at 28 places including Parrymunai, Adyar and Coimbatore Karunya University.

The income tax department raided the preacher’s residence and offices for several hours. The incident was followed by a stir in some areas.

The income tax raids were conducted on complaints of tax evasion and foreign financial irregularities against the Dinakaran and the ‘Jesus Caller’ organization.

Income Tax sources said that apart from tax evasion, Jesus Calls has not fully disclosed the details of all foreign funds it has received and has kept many investments hidden.

Paul Dinakaran, son of late Christian evangelist T.G.S. Dinakaran, is a popular figure in Tamil Nadu. He also runs several organizations.
