Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on October 25, 2021 … At around 1.15 pm in Varanasi, the Prime Minister will launch the PMASBY. It will be one of the largest Pan-India projects to strengthen health infrastructure across the country. This would be in addition to the National Health Service, ”the Press Information Bureau said in a statement on Sunday.

Modi will also launch various development projects worth Rs 5,200 crore for Varanasi.

The PMASBY scheme was announced by the central government during the budget session in February this year at a cost of about Rs 64,180 crore over six years (up to the 2025-26 financial year). The plan would be in addition to the national health mission, the report said.

The project focuses on improving the capabilities of health systems and organizations at all levels, primary, secondary and tertiary, and preparing health systems to respond effectively to current and future epidemics and disasters.

Under the scheme, government support will be provided to 17,788 rural health and welfare centers in 10 high-focus states. At least 11,024 urban health and wellness centers will be set up.

Apart from these, in districts with a population of more than 500,000, critical care services will be available through exclusive critical hospital blocks, while the remaining districts will be covered by referral services.

“Under PAMASBY, a National Institute for Health, 4 new National Virology Institutions, WHO Regional Research Site for the Southeast Asian Region, 9 Biological Safety Level III Laboratories, and 5 new Regional National Disease Control Centers will be set up. PMASBY aims to create an information technology based disease monitoring system by developing a network of monitoring laboratories in metropolitan, block, district, region and national levels. The integrated health information portal will be extended to all states / union territories to connect all public health laboratories, ”the statement said.

Experts believe it is time to strengthen medical infrastructure at ground level.

“In a country like India, no matter what efforts we make to improve the health care system, it will still be less due to population; and inaccessibility and affordability is a problem … This unused infrastructure in the private sector can be used by AYUSHMAN BHARAT or any other projects … ”said Dr MC Misra, former director of the Delhi Aims.
