Even though the Gandhi family once again managed to save its supreme leadership inside the Congress, the voices against him in the party have been exposed.

Several senior Congress leaders had written to Sonia Gandhi demanding internal reforms and more potential president in the party.

After which the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting was convened on Monday and it was decided that Sonia Gandhi would remain the interim president of the Congress. He has accepted to remain in office till he is elected as the new president of the party.

Rahul Gandhi expressed grief over his mother and interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi for writing letters by 23 Congress leaders. “I was hurt by the events (writing letters and reminders for answers by senior leaders at the time of Sonia Gandhi’s illness) and I am my son,” Rahul Gandhi said in a passionate manner.

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi also said in the CWC meeting what it meant to write the letter when Sonia Gandhi was in the hospital and the government was in distress in Rajasthan. The direct advantage was to reach the BJP.

Randeep Surjewala’s denial came later that he did not say that Rahul Gandhi had asked the leaders to meet the BJP.
