Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami has been arrested in an old case registered in Alibag.
Raigad police on Wednesday arrested 2 people other than Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami for allegedly inciting the 53-year-old interior designer to commit suicide. In May this year, a CID probe was ordered by the Maharashtra government into the case.
This is the case for 2018. Police also searched Arnab’s house. Arnab can be produced in the court of Alibag. Police have also arrested Feroz Sheikh and Nitesh Sarda besides Arnab Goswami.
The 53-year-old was ordered to re-examine the case of an interior designer and his mother committing suicide by Arnab Goswami, Feroz Sheikh and Nitesh Sarda for allegedly not paying the dues.
The sucide note allegedly written by Anavay Naik said that the accused had not paid him Rs 5.40 crore, so he had to take suicidal steps. Republic TV had dismissed the allegations.
On the CID probe, state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had said, “The daughter of interior designer Andy Naik, Obedient Naik, had claimed that alibag police in Raigad district had not investigated the issue of non-payment of dues. So, others and their mother had to take suicidal steps,” he said.
Reacting to Arnab’s arrest, actor Kangana Ranaut said, “I want to ask the Maharashtra government how many voices will stop. These mouths will grow. Many martyrs have given their martyrdom before today. Why is it so annoying?”
