How to fast on Rishi Panchami?
Wake up before sunrise, take a bath and wear clean, light yellow clothes. Purify the temple area of your house with Gangajal and arrange fragrance there. Place a photo or deity of the seven sages on a wooden plank and place a kalash filled with water in front of them.
Offer yellow fruits and flowers and sweets to Sapta Rishi by showing incense-lamp. Now ask the Sapta Rishis for forgiveness for your mistakes and take a pledge to help others. After narrating the fast story to all the people, perform aarti and feed prasad to everyone. Take blessings by touching the feet of your elders.
Obstacles will end with divine measures
On the day of Rishi Panchami, wake up early in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes. Take 11 whole small green cardamoms and place them in a plate in front of Lord Ganapati.
Light a lamp of cow’s ghee in front of Lord Ganapati and keep yellow fruits. Now chant the mantra Om Vidya Buddhi Pradaye Namah 108 times with a rosary of red sandalwood or Rudraksh. Ask Lord Ganapati and the Saptarishis for forgiveness for their mistakes and seek the blessings of wisdom and intellect. By doing this, the obstruction in learning will be removed soon.
Wealth will increase with the blessings of ancestors
On the day of Rishi Panchami, take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes. If possible, make pudding of cow’s milk by cleaning the kitchen of the house. Keep a photo or picture of ancestors in the south direction of your house and light a lamp of ghee in front of them. Put some kheer on 5 different betel leaves and place cardamom on it.
Chant Shri Pitru Devaya Namah Mantra 27 times, after chanting these five betel leaves, offer it to the root of the Peepal tree. Make sure to provide food to the needy people in the name of ancestors.
